Reflections: History is not what it seems

More disillusionment to add to my dismay at the fabricated WWI footage. Rick Shenkman spoke to the class tonight and revealed the fact that we have been mislead and lied to our entire lives regarding history and what we learned in school. Betsy, say it isn’t so! Is it really so hard to educate and inform people without having to make history more entertaining than it really was?  As story tellers, will we have to deceive our audiences in order to capture their attention? I’d like to think that the truth can be pretty compelling on its own merit, but the evidence isn’t on my side.
