Lean back, lean forward is such a great way to describe the difference between online viewership and television. Online viewers are engaged and actively participating with their media. TV viewers are passive and don’t really participate other than to flip through the channels. I had never really thought of it this way before. It makes me think that maybe traditional media isn’t in such big trouble after all. I mean, it’s great to engage and be interactive with your computer and entertainment and all. But at the end of a long, hard day at work, sometimes it’s nice to kick back and veg in front of the old idiot box.
